Nestle Purina PetCare announced that its Flagstaff pet food plant has donated more than six tons of Purina brand products as requested by the Arizona Humane Society to help the four-legged victims of the wildfires that continue to rage in that state. The product was delivered to shelters in Holbrook and St. Johns, Ariz. The Flagstaff plant also donated pet food to a recently opened Red Cross shelter, and provided dog bowls and food to Flag Pals, a local dog group.
In addition to the pet food, Nestle Purina PetCare will donate $5,000 to the Arizona Humane Society Wildfire Rescue Fund to assist with various costs associated with the wildfires.
"We're happy to provide some relief to pets affected by the devastating fires in the state of Arizona," said Bill Calloway, Nestle Purina Flagstaff Plant Manager. "We're hoping the situation improves soon."
An estimated 30,000 residents of Arizona communities have been evacuated from their homes. The Arizona wildfires continue to spread over 417,000 acres of land.
