In support of Project Opportunity, Nestlé in the U.S. has formed a national partnership with Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) to help strengthen Nestlé’s recruitment efforts and focus on employment opportunities to the Military and Veteran communities.
On March 7–8, Nestlé Purina led a Project Opportunity event with Hiring Our Heroes, sponsoring their Transition Summit on base at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Purina's own Eric Schmidt, Sr. Talent Engagement & Sourcing Strategies Analyst for Nestlé Purina Pet Care, spoke to all those in attendance at the Transition Summit - leading a panel discussion with those looking to make the transition into civilian life and offered his insight and perspective on how to stand out, prepare and leverage a unique skillset in today’s workplace.
“People who’ve been in the military have a different mindset and a great ability to apply themselves and work with others,” said John Williams, an army veteran who now holds a manager position as a Business Analyst in Engineering at Nestlé Purina Pet Care. John is just one of the many veterans hired across Nestlé in the U.S., exemplifying that Nestlé and Purina understand the benefit of hiring veterans by providing opportunities for real career advancement. Sponsoring the event with Hiring Our Heroes not only enables Nestlé's work with and support of the military and veteran communities, but also drives forward Nestlé’s Project Opportunity effort in the U.S., an initiative that continues to put an increased focus in providing career readiness and support to the military and veteran communities.
ABOUT HIRING OUR HEROES
A program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.
Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, the goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of communities where veterans and military families return every day.
To date, more than 28,000 veterans and military spouses have obtained jobs through Hiring Our Heroes events.
