Today a U.S. District Judge, Central District of California, granted Nestlé Purina’s Motion to Dismiss a class action lawsuit filed in California on August 27, 2015. We’re pleased our Motion to Dismiss has been granted and the court agrees the Plaintiff’s claims have no legal basis. As we’ve said consistently, forced labor has no place in our supply chain and we share the goal of eliminating such practices in Southeast Asia’s fishing industry. Proactive and concerted efforts are needed to address Southeast Asia’s serious and complex supply chain issues that cannot be properly solved through lawsuits. Importantly, Nestlé recently published a 10-point action plan to tackle potential issues, and has begun to implement that plan. A link to the Judge’s ruling can be found here.
