Purina Donates $25,000 to Help Pets and People Impacted by Hurricane Fiona
ST. LOUIS, September 22, 2022 – As Hurricane Fiona moves north and first responders continue search and rescue efforts in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, Nestlé Purina announced a $25,000 grant to Greater Good Charities to support the global nonprofit’s crisis response to the catastrophic damage the storm caused this week. Purina’s donation will enable Greater Good Charities to send food and supplies to the millions of people and pets who have been impacted.
"Our hearts go out to the people and pets in Puerto Rico, many who have been displaced and are still without electricity or running water as a result of Hurricane Fiona that swept through the Caribbean earlier this week,” said Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs. "Purina has a long history of supporting communities in the wake of natural disasters, and we’re proud to support Greater Good Charities’ life-saving work during this time of great need.”
Purina partner, Greater Good Charities, is working with organizations on the ground in Puerto Rico, responding to the catastrophic flooding, mudslides, and power outages across the U.S. territory. The organization is sending in four truckloads of Purina pet food, pharmaceuticals, and Good Packs with survival supplies and comfort items, to those in need.
In times of natural disaster, Purina provides timely support to people and pets in need by working with nonprofit partners to deliver pet supplies and funding to areas that are being impacted. Since 2017, Purina has given more than $400,000 and nearly 700,000 pounds of Purina pet food and cat litter to support victims of natural disasters across the United States.
