ST. LOUIS, August 10, 2022 – As first responders continue search and rescue efforts in the wake of the flooding that devastated Eastern Kentucky and caused damage to other parts of Appalachia, Nestlé Purina announced a $15,000 grant to Greater Good Charities to support the organization’s disaster relief efforts. Purina’s donation will help fund emergency relief efforts aimed at providing critical supplies, pet food and veterinary care to the thousands of people and pets impacted by the floods.
"Our hearts go out to the people and pets who lost so much due to the devastating floods that swept through the Appalachian region last month,” said Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs. "Purina has a long history of supporting communities in the wake of natural disasters, and we’re proud to partner with Greater Good Charities to support their important work during this time of great need.”
Purina partner, Greater Good Charities, is working with organizations on the ground responding to the catastrophic flooding and mudslides across Kentucky, Virginia, and Missouri. Greater Good Charities is distributing Purina pet food to local pet owners, as well as sending much-needed supplies and Good Packs with survival and comfort items to those in need.
In times of natural disaster, Purina provides timely support to people and pets in need by working with its nonprofit partners to deliver pet food, litter and funding to areas that are being impacted. Since 2017, Purina has given more than $375,000 and nearly 700,000 pounds of Purina pet food and cat litter to support victims of natural disasters across the United States.
Purina’s $15,000 grant to Greater Good Charities is in addition to a $25,000 donation from the Nestlé USA Foundation to the American Red Cross in support of Kentucky flood relief.
