Purina Donates Pet Food and $10,000 to Support Pets and People Impacted by Recent Tornadoes
ST. LOUIS, June 10, 2024 – As more than 70 tornadoes were reported across 15 states, including Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma and Arkansas over Memorial Day weekend, Purina is making a $10,000 grant to Greater Good Charities to support the organization’s relief efforts. Purina’s donation will help fund emergency shelter and medications for the thousands of lost or displaced pets impacted by the storms. The company is also working with its partners at Greater Good Charities to provide a large donation of Purina dog and cat food to animal welfare organizations housing pets in the wake of the storms.
"Our hearts go out to the families and pets affected by the devastating tornadoes that swept across the country over the past several weeks, including our home state of Missouri,” said Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs. "Purina has a long history of supporting communities in the wake of natural disasters, and we’re proud to once again partner with Greater Good Charities to support their life-saving work during this time of great need.”
Purina partner, Greater Good Charities, is currently responding to requests for assistance in Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas. The global nonprofit has shipped over 20 pallets of dry dog and cat food to pet welfare organizations, as well as provided monetary grants to nonprofits housing lost and displaced pets. In addition to providing pet food and financial assistance, Greater Good Charities is sending Good Packs, cleaning supplies, and pet pharmaceuticals to help those in need.
In times of natural disaster, Purina provides timely support to people and pets in need by working with its nonprofit partners to deliver pet food, litter and funding to areas that are being impacted. Since 2017, Purina has donated more than $375,000 and more than 700,000 pounds of Purina pet food and cat litter to support victims of natural disasters across the United States.
